In this review, we will continues with Bill Healey to explore the beauty of Laguna Lang Golf Club, a 18-holes golf club.
—————
We arrived at Laguna Lăng Cô in the late afternoon on 28 September for our 24-hour site visit and course review. After the greeting, our group of four was escorted to a two-bedroom pool suite at the Angsana Lăng Cô property. Upon entering the spacious 159 square meter suite with a private pool, large living area and two sizeable bedrooms, I envisioned it would be a perfect escape for a much longer visit
Greeted at the golf club by Darren Robson, who doubles as both the General Manager and Director of Golf, we knew we were in good hands. We were given a quick overview of the course, assigned our carts and caddies and headed for the 1st tee.
Designed by Sir Nick Faldo, the award-winning championship course is an 18-hole, par 71 layout that offers a challenge to golfers of all capabilities. Considered by many as one of his best layouts to date, the site’s natural rugged character has been integrated into the course by maintaining the land’s natural terrain. The course with links-like characteristics measures nearly 7,100 yards from the championship tees to a beginner friendly 5,263 yards from the front tees.
Several holes that stand out include their signature hole, the par-3, 5th hole which incorporates large mounds around the green that copy a mountain peak in the background. The par-4, 9th hole is Laguna’s only seaside-hole, providing a fabulous view of the East Sea. The par-5,18th hole is a lengthy dog-leg right that is well protected by bunkers along the way. It makes for a very good finishing hole on it’s return to the clubhouse.
Upon completing the round, we again joined Darren Robson and staff for a nice lunch at the terrace café which offered an extensive selection of local and international fare. Also available at the clubhouse are a fully stocked golf shop and full service locker rooms.
